In this video, Kai and Lok of DigitalRevTV get the Canon S110 and G15, and are test each other with a series of challenges to find out which one is king of the Canon compacts.
Our take: Each of these are decent compact cameras with 12 megapixel sensors that will get you good results. The G15 has more on body controls, whereas with the S110 you’ll need to go menu diving a bit, but it does have Wi-Fi. We agree with Kai that an enthusiast might be more tempted by the larger sensor on Canon’s G1X, but that camera is priced at about $300 USD more than the S110 and the G15. If you want to get more power and you don’t mind spending a little extra on a great camera, then we would recommend going for the Sony RX 100, which is less than $150 more and sports a 20.2 megapixel sensor vs. the 14.4 megapixel sensor on the G1X (and the RX100 was just named as one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2012).
