Via 43Rumors – Our french friends at Hybridcams (translation here) posted the full GH3 review and included a comaprison with the “older” GH2: “Meticulously designed, well thought out ergonomics and obviously excellent performance not only at the video where it was expected, but also in photo.

And because Panasonic is already shipping, you can see first user reviews like these High ISO samples that have been posted on Dpreview forum.

Our Take:  The new Panasonic Lumix GH3 has been making it’s way into the hands of MC Contributors, and all have been highly impressed with the capabilities of this new camera.  Panasonic had a tall order in upping their game in the video department over the GH2, which has been one of the most celebrated cameras for video makers since it’s release in 2010, but with the addition of a new sensor and Venus Processing Engine, Pro Features like a standard 3.5mm mic input, headphone jack and customizable controls, they have succeeded in raising the bar…  and this is in addition to still photo image quality that puts the GH3 on par (or even above) virtually any other mirrorless system or DSLR.

The dilemma that will face many first time buyers is whether to go for the GH3 or pick up a GH2, which is now a tremendous bargain and still remains one of the finest cameras available.

Our advice…  The Panasonic Lumix GH3 represents a paradigm shift in the camera industry.  It’s the first true Pro-level Hybrid Photography Machine.  That is to say, that it ranks in the top of the class in still image capabilities AND Video (where nobody else comes close).  If you have the funds then we highly recommend picking one up, but  if a GH3 doesn’t quite fit into your budget, then you might be better off picking up a GH2 and some good lenses for now and going for your GH3 at a later date.  After all, all those lenses you pick up will work on either camera.
