TechRadar has posted a Hands-On Review of the new Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5, and this little bad boy continues to impress. TR put the E-PL5 up against some stiff competition in their testing, namely the Panasonic GF5, the Sony NEX 5R and it’s older brother, the Olympus E-PL2, and the new PEN in town held it’s own with, or even beat the competition, including the vaunted Sony NEX cam. Witness the JPEG Dynamic Range Test below, where no one even touches the E-PL5.
The new PEN Lite (E-PL5) and PEN Mini (E-PM2) share the same sensor and processor as Olympus’ much celebrated M43 Flagship camera, the OM-D E-M5… and the superb image quality of that camera is now trickling down the line. Expect BIG THINGS from these little cameras!
Here’s TechRadar’s Verdict (Read Full Review Here):
The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5’s interchangeable grips are an option we have seen before with the Olympus PEN, and its a great idea that enables you to find the grip that suits you. This, and the tilting LCD screen, makes the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 a more versatile camera.
The Olympus OM-D origin of its sensor and image processor deliver excellent results here, with the camera’s images able to trump those from the Sony NEX-5R, Panasonic GF5 and Olympus PEN E-PL2 for dynamic range and signal to noise ratio.
